Płóczki Górne 100

Before WWI my great-grandparents had a bakery in Płóczki Górne and my great-grandfathers name is inscribed on the war memorial in the village. After his death in 1914, they sold the bakery an moved away. There seem to be two German inscriptions on the sign, one on top of an older one. Possibly the older name is the one of my great-grandparents. Have you got a full size picture of the house? Many thanks.

I am not quite sure if I understand correctly: if I have violated forum rules by not being able to speak (write) Polish or for being German with family roots in Silesia, I am very sorry. To Hellride: I do have a set of beautiful photographs from the village – but not from the bakery- dated from around 1910-1914. I tried to upload but struggled with the polish website instructions. I would be happy to try again and share these pictures but the forum has to decide if it welcomes contributions from “non-polish outsiders”.

do mikeschhorn: You are welcome on this website and you don't broke any forum rules. I am really sorry for fellowes who don't understand English language. Some Poles have unacceptable fears and problems even after 70 years from second world war, they still need to learn how to live in united Europe. The old generation still remember hard times, some subjects are still not closed, and Polish-German history is always hard to explain. My roots in 4 or 5 generation are in "Sudetenland", my great-grandfather was probably Austrian (before 1900 year) :))).

To add photography - u need to press "dodaj zdjęcie" (add a photo), click on a catalogue with greed plus, indicate file (best will be .jpg, 1500px at longer egde), there will be three empty rooms to fill marked with red crosses (source, description and date), at the end you need pres button "OPUBLIKUJ ZDJĘCIA NA STRONIE". You can also send to me those pictures: hellrid@onet.pl - and I will published them.

do mikeschhorn: You didn't violate our rules so you can speak with us in polish / german / english (the last one is preferred because most of us know this language quite well). I am glad that you passed through register form but if you have any problems with publishing pictures from your collection - you can upload these on - for example - picasa and give us url to the gallery but Hellrid's instruction should help you in submitting pictures through our form.
